    Our opinion:

    By Snow & Saol

Tonight we have been invited by Mpower Escape to discover their room The cabin en visio.

Now you'll understand that I love the video room, but I quickly realize that I'm not really going to discover what I'm used to, but a game system that I hadn't really gotten excited about yet:

We get a link to zoom in and to a telescape page that we usually use next to it for inventory. We are a group of 8 (which is just unimaginable for a team). We will be divided into 2 groups of 4 to play in parallel. I decide right away to make a version vs that opposes the 2 groups.

We are quickly divided and put into 2 different channels with our Ranger Hillary explaining that it's a game that is played on the inventory and a somewhat interactive 360° view of the spaces. We've played it twice before and I've never been excited about it, but here it's different, because we're really doing things independently and separately, the progression is perfectly non-linear and becomes interesting. We use the zoom to exchange, to wax and to talk. We progress alone or in teams or together. I create energy very quickly and we progress much faster than with an avatar that only allows linearity and joint actions.

So we take the rhythm and follow the riddles in a rather fluid way. There is relatively little manipulation, but the puzzles are quite original and interesting. There were one or two moments of surprise in this escape in the bayou.

What we regretted was a little bit more cooperation and atmosphere, I think a background sound could have helped.

We got caught up in the game of wanting to be faster than our friends in the other group and played very fast, without giving ourselves too much time to think about it but after the game we shared the fact that we found the game fun and interesting. We had fun and that's the most important thing...

Who won? The other group managed to finish 30 seconds ahead of us, but they probably had some help (what? Who are you talking about bad losers? I don't know who you're talking about).

Our conclusion was that this adventure isn't necessarily worse than a video room with an avatar. You have to try to judge.

    + We enjoyed +

    • The possibility to play as a competition
    • Non-linearity of the puzzles
    • Interesting puzzles
    • The fluidity of the game and the possible follow-up thanks to the presence of a Game master

    - We didn't like -

    • We were totally lost with all the work we had to do.
    • The absence of a sound atmosphere and a true story

    For who?

    • Pour les compétiteurs
    • Pour ceux qui aiment tester de nouvelles choses
    • Pour ceux qui n'ont pas besoin de tout faire

    Why play it?

    • Parce que c'est une salle hybride qui fonctionne très bien
    • Non linéaire
    • et fun
